Leaving 2020 and welcoming 2021 was like a relief to many of us. While 2020 had some worst things to remember about, it also gave rise to many of the technology which will emerge in both; near and long-term future. These are some of the technology trends that will be hot favourite amongst the researchers and scientists and developers, in 2021.
1. Internet of behavior (IoB)
With Internet of things (IoT) growing with leaps and bounds in the past decade (Ya!! Now its past decade; as we moved to 2021 LOL) gadgets and humans have come closer like never before. From driverless cars to smart clothes and insanely intelligent smart eyewear and footwear; IoT has helped the technological sector in ways we can’t even imagine of. But in 2021 – developers are taking another big step by investing billions of dollars into this new sector called Internet of behavior (IoB).

Extending the IoT while tracking customer action and fulfilling client needs is basically what IoB aims at. While behavioral science is divided into four categories (emotions, decisions, augmentation, companionship) future tech is going to take all this burden for you. For instance, consider you driving a car configured with IoB. When you accelerate; system takes information of how much you pushed the paddle; similarly, for braking, turning angles, steering wheel maneuverings and all that you do to handle your vehicle. Next time you sit in there – you need to relax and let your car handle things for you; not just driving on its own but also mimicking your driving style.

Another example could be considered of health app on your phone. Today it shows diet chart, exercise plan and your heart rate, sugar level and sleep patterns. But with IoB this can totally be different. Along with the above information, you will also get alerts when you mood is off, or you change your usual pattern of behaviour which can be known from change in heart rates and many more stuff which can make you feel better and as a health app can actually take care of your ‘health’.
Google, Facebook & Amazon are some big fishes which are acquiring small software companies developing IoB and for 2021 this is the top technological trend world may seem to move to.
2. Total Experience (TX)
With IoB, companies aim to improve the overall customer experience and help them to use the technology in best way. But then what about the intersection point of all the pieces of company community? That is employee, user and customers to gadgets and technology combined. Here’s when Total Experience comes into play.

After coronavirus (sorry “with coronavirus!!”); most of the interactions on day-to-day basis are virtual, distributed, distant and mobile and it goes beyond to cover individuals working remotely. Many experts expect that using TX; companies will outperform their competitors in next three years after this whole pandemic crisis.

In the first place, it deployed an appointment system via an existing app. When customer reached nearer to their store, say 75 feet; they received two things: (1) A notification to guide them to check-in process further in their appointment (2) and alert informing them about exactly how long it would take before they could safely enter the store and maintain social distancing.

It also enabled its employees to have tablets so that they can co-browse with customers’ device; without even physically touching them. 3. Extended Reality (XR)

With Virtual reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) already introduced in our lives; Extended Reality (XR) will take over the future. Technology which uses glasses or headsets to project computer-generated imagery directly into the user’s field of vision is XR. When superimposed over what user is viewing in real world; it is AR. And when it completely puts user in computer-generated world; it is VR.
Challenges posed by the current world situation can’t be tackled using just one of them; and next year we see Extended Reality (XR) to grow rapidly having amalgamated VR & AR. To life getting back to normal, XR will play a major role achieving that.

For instance, consider an optician. Your entire medical examinations and diagnosis can be carried with VR; as ultra-HD cameras giving crystal-clear image of patient’s eye. At the same time, AR will offer range of glasses and frames to choose from and how it will look and fit on him. This is the beauty of XR.
Another big area where XR can potentially take over will be educational sector. Instead of you going to crowded classrooms and increasing the transmission rates of virus; use XR and sit at ease to study from a safer environment.
