EA has just unveiled the rumored sequel to 2019’s Jedi Fallen Order, the more punchily-named Star Wars Jedi Survivor. The game is being developed by Respawn the same team that made Fallen Order and is under the leadership of game director Stig Asmussen. The sequel is coming nearly four years after Jedi: Fallen Order introduced us to the new Jedi, new Inquisitors, and one of the cutest droids in the galaxy.
As for the story, Jedi Survivor begins five years after the first game’s events, which ended with Cal fleeing from Darth Vader after sabotaging an Imperial plot. This time skip will see a gruffer, more lantern-jawed Cal Jedi-ing it up at the height of the Empire’s power. We will see the game will expand on the series’ dynamic combat in new and innovative ways. We will also see that in order to survive Cal will need to learn new skills and grow his connection with the Force.
Our first look at the game shows Cal pondering someone floating in a bacta tank, interspersed with shots of lightsaber combat and a view of his ship, the Mantis, crashed on a desert world. A Pau’an narrator muses on the hopelessness of Cal’s situation while wondering just what his next move will be.
Star Wars Jedi Survivor
Electronic Arts (EA) announced that Jedi Survivor is being built for the current generation of gaming hardware to create a deeper and more expansive Star Wars experience for players worldwide.
EA also announced that Jedi Survivor will be released sometime in 2023 and is being developed for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order followed Cal Kestis, a former padawan of Jedi Master Jaro Tapal, until the execution of Order 66 led to the eradication of the Jedi Order throughout the galaxy. After surviving incognito for a number of years, Cal reconnected with the Force and rose up to fight the Inquisitors, in order to prevent young Force-sensitive children from falling into the hands of the Empire and the dark side.
