The Rise of COD mobile

After selling millions of copies of various Call of Duty games on PC and other gaming platforms, Call of Duty franchise entered the mobile gaming scene with its very own game Call of Duty Mobile (COD Mobile) in the year 2019. The game was initially released as a closed beta and was later released globally on October 1, 2019. The game became an instant success and the game (Activision release) has witnessed one of the largest mobile game launches in history, generating over US$ 480 Million with 270 million downloads within a year and these numbers are only from the global version. In other regions, the game was released by its other Publishers like Garena, Tencent and VNG. The developers  of the game have tried to bring a similar gameplay experience from their various games to Call of Duty mobile and have seemed to be pretty successful at doing so. The Game has various modes and maps to choose from and play and mainly is divided in two main parts: Multiplayer (MP) and Battle Royale (BR).

Multiplayer

The Multiplayer aspect of this game is what that makes it unique and stand out from its other competitors like PUBG Mobile and Garena Free Fire. Multiplayer mode is a first person shooter similar to its other COD titles. In core game modes like Team Death Match, Search and Destroy, Hardpoint and Domination which all are 5v5 matches, so players can choose to play either non-ranked matches (public matches) or ranked matches if they opt to be a bit more competitive.

Also every season, there new featured modes and new maps which are added. These modes include various famous modes like Attack of the Undead, Juggernaut, 3v3, 10v10 and many more, which are from the previous COD titles. In the MP mode there are other features like score streaks and operator skills that one can use to get a strategic advantage over their opposition team. In addition, there is a wide arsenal of weapons that the player can choose from. The weapons range from a knife to Rocket launchers, Trip mines and Thermites to EMP grenades, AR’s like AK 47 to Snipers like DLQ 33. One can even buy lucky draws and crates to get some epic or legendary skins and to show them off during your battles.

Battle Royale (BR)

The Battle Royale is also something to look out for in the game. In this 100 player game mode, players can choose to play solo, duo or with a squad. The Battle Royale map is played on a beautiful map called Isolated. There is also one other map called Alcatraz but it is a Limited time mode. You can traverse the Isolated map using various vehicles like cars, ATV’s, helicopters and even zip lines and ropeways. In the very recent update, a new vehicle truck was added which seems to be deadly and can instantly kill or knockdown if one is run over by it.

Another interesting feature of the BR in Call of Duty Mobile is its classes. You can choose from various classes as shown in the picture above. These abilities need some time to recharge after every use but once activated can aid you in numerous ways depending on the class that one has chosen. Also, in BR there are ranks and each rank gives the players special rewards. These ranks of MP and BR are both reset every two months when a new ranked season is introduced with new rewards. There is also the normal season which is introduced every 45 days and with it, it brings a new Battle Pass, Guns, Maps and modes.

Gunsmith

The recent addition of the Gunsmith feature is what has given COD Mobile a huge boost to its popularity. None of the other mobile games out there have this kind of customization and weapon stats. With the addition of Gunsmith players can customize their weapons to their content. By customization it doesn’t just mean cosmetic customization like skins or stickers or charms, but actual real customizations.

Players can control almost every aspect of their gun and alter it up to their hearts content. One can literally change the recoil, damage, ADS speed, ADS bullet spread, hip fire and many more aspects of their gun. There are almost various attachments for each gun that you can use like various grips, stocks, barrels, optics, perks, lasers etc.

The Gunsmith has not only brought a new experience to the mobile gaming platform but has also attracted many new players/gamers who seem to be interested in this new weaponry of COD Mobile.

Graphics and other

Some of the final features that attracts many players towards COD mobile is its graphics and realistic physics and movements. The graphics in COD Mobile are beautiful and their optimization is pretty well done. As for the movements and physics, which all the previous COD titles had excelled in them, COD Mobile is no exception. The movement is very well optimized and very smooth. The game physics and mechanics are nice, especially the gun mechanics. Only the vehicle mechanics needs to be tweaked a bit in BR but other than that everything about the graphics is simply amazing.

One is guaranteed to love this game if they are fans of first person shooters or battle royale games. The e-sports for this game are also growing at a rapid rate especially due of the COD Mobile World Championship, LOCO India Cup and Mobile Mayhem.
